I have just launched a new site which showcases some of my work around ‘Live Illustration’ and events. You can have a look here: visualthinking.chrisshipton.com and click on the images to see some of the info-graphics I have made for it!

Getting a cartoon in a national paper is a dream come true for any cartoonist. And today I have a cartoon in the ‘i’. I entered their cartoon idol competition and I am chuffed to bits it has been printed. But what I need now is some BUZZ so please let the ‘i’ know what you think of my cartoon! It would seem the competition is based on what readers feedback to the paper. Who knows where this could lead!

You could post on the iBlog post here: http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2011/10/25/cartoon-idol-help-i-find-its-future-cartoonists/

Otherwise you can contact the paper by emailing comments to i@independent.co.uk, going on the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/i or tweeting @TheIPaper with the hashtag #iCartoons. If you have any feedback at all, don’t tell me! Tell them!!

Readers of Chrisshipton.com are probably wondering where their zombies are.. well they are very slowly shambling in the direction of the blog. I am working on a NEW and very exciting comic that will rival the Business Park of Doom!! So here are some preview sketches as I work up to the first set of pages…

I have been off on holiday, or working for the last couple of months. So I haven’t been doing zombies at the rate I would like to. I want to draw 100 zombies, and so far I have done 25 drawings. And over 50 people have now used the zombie upload form to submit images for zombification. You can have a look at the zombie gallery here, which includes faces yet to be zombified. Are you there?

When I get to 100 submissions that will be it! The chance for zombification will be gone.. you’ll just have to get bitten the old fashioned way!

Oh and incase you were puzzled by Michael Douglas appearing in the gallery here is his email to me:

So it turns out Barry Humphreys will be joining the ever growing cast of famous types in the upcoming Hobbit. A film which has had a fair share of development hell but looks like it couldbe so good! Will it be a Dune? or worse a Phantom Menace? We’ll find out in due course. With Martin Freeman as Bilbo (and Sherlock Holmes fans will be glad to hear Benedict Cumberbatch voicing Smaug) and Peter Jackson with Weta loads of money and two films I am confident fans will be granted our wish or MORE LOTR.

But I think Humphreys is a great choice not least because he fits the description of the Great Goblin so well. I drew my piccy of him for my Orc-tober project based on Tolkiens description, an I think I have drawn a Humphreys!

Check out the orginal Orc-tober pic here.

And have a look at the BBC article here which refers to ‘Evil Goblin King’ given Barry Humphreys penchant for dressing up lets hope he doesn’t turn up as David Bowie.

Another page of ‘The Business Park of Doom’ – which I am preparing to turn into a comic to take to ‘Kapow’ (the massive comics convention coming up in London).

Another 2 pages of the Business Park of Doom – which I am working up to turn into a full comic! Coming very soon..

Listening to the Today show this morning they were discussing Royal Wedding tat..er I mean memorabilia. Imagine my surprise when they forgot to mention the Chris Shipton Heirloom Quality Wills and Kate Mug! But never mind, in actual fact its a good thing. The woman from the Antiques Roadshow revealed that the really valuable Royal Wedding stuff is the random weird stuff no one bought at the time. So dear customers and potential customers the worst thing that could happen is a major news outlet picking up on this mug. I would have to produce and sell millions of them, and then all the W’an’K mugs out there would suddenly depreciate in value! So heres the deal. After the 29th of April 2011 I will STOP producing and selling the mugs. That will be it! At that point the mug will be limited edition! And in 30 years time YOU can take it on the Antiques Roadshow and try to explain away your delated look when they tell you how much its worth!!

Luckily no shops I have emailed have responded, no online retailers and no lazy journalists compiling photo galleries of ‘Royal Wedding Tat’ (there is at least one article per paper per week on that particular story at the moment). Thanks to that complete lack of attention there really has never been a better time to buy a Chris Shipton Heirloom Quality Wills and Kate mug!!

I draw dead people: RIP Elizabeth Taylor. Old friend of MJ, was her death portended by my MJ Tribute pic? And who is next… click here to see the original painting

Check out my amazing comic depicting why you should buy a heirloom quality Chris Shipton Royal Wedding Wills and Kate Engagement Mug. Order a Mug and receive a print of the strip!

UPDATE: THIS IS NO LONGER ON SALE!!

‘This unique and tastefully hand rendered representation of the Royal Crest of Prince William with a commemorative motto of ‘Extra Bank Holiday‘ respectfully adorns one side of the mug. On the other side of the mug there is a picture of Wills and Kate with ‘Wills & Kate‘ written underneath it. This mug would make an ideal present for Royalists and Rabid Republicans alike. Whether it’s for your granny to put in a glass cabinet or for you to drink sludge from in the office there has never been a better time to order a Chris Shipton Heirloom Quality Wills and Kate Mug.’
