Lamb Update 20th Sept 2009
Sadly for us, and the nation, Lamb is still on. If you are reading this and you don’t know who he is, you’re lucky. I’ve pretty much given up on 6Music these days. I can’t be bothered with the BBC entertainment radio premise of ‘employ tv celebrity to make a radio show’ for no other reason than they are a bit famous. Especially when they have no radio broadcasting skill whatsoever. As Lamb’s fame has grown over the years the negative google results have receded, replaced now with the online versions of sycophantic press articles that seem to coalesce around the mildly famous, doubtless penned by desperate hacks trying to get bread on the table by placating tyrannical entertainment editors.
I found what appears to be a George Lamb twitter feed and garnered the image below from it. Is it him?

Once upon a time I used to listen to BBC 6Music during the day. The Gideon Coe show was an interesting show featuring great music. But then along came George Lamb taking over Coe’s daytime slot. I am not sure but I think this coincided with the departure of the stations head during a Mark Thompson rigged phone vote pogrom. He is clearly a complete berk who has now, incredible been nominated for a Sony. Its all to do with the now controller of Radio 2 and 6Music, Lesley Douglas, and her evil plan to make as much of the BBC’s daytime radio completley unlistenable to by people with more than one brain cell. But don’t take my word for it, simply Googling George Lamb will provide you with dozens of sites demonstarting listeners disgust. And I have posted some of the best here:

Lesley Douglas defends the indefensible
I wonder if she has actually listened to the show?? Critics claim the station has moved away from its original music-orientated remit in search of a bigger audience. One said Lamb sounded too similar to a Radio 1 DJ and accused him of broadcasting “meaningless drivel and street talk”. Drivel it is.

Update: George is still on the air. He has been revealed as the new host of Big Brother this year so we’ll possibley be seeing more of him. Unless you do the right thing and kick your telly in should he appear. Also there has been some confusion over his winning a Sony DAB Rising star radio award. As far as I am aware this is different to the prestigious Sony Academy Awards.
Update from Matt “We won! Don;t know why but decided to listen to the radio this morning (just in case he had given up using that damn air horn…) and at 12h30 he announced that as of week friday he will no longer be doing a week day show and will instead be doing a saturday morning show”
